The Dentelles de Montmirail
The name Dentelles de Montmirail comes from the Latin 'mons mirabilis' which means admirable mountain. Finely chiselled by erosion, the Dentelles de Montmirail stand like lace carved in stone, and peak at 755 m. The Dentelles are the farthest foothills of the Alps, in the Rhone valley, yet vegetation is characteristically Mediterranean, with aromatic herbs, green oak, Aleppo pine. Vineyards planted on the flanks of the hills provide very prestigious vintage wines. Many sports and leisure activities take place in the Dentelles de Montmirail - strolling through the many villages, hiking, biking, mountain biking, climbing.
