Musée de la Lavande Luberon

The Art of Fine Lavender

In May 1991, Georges Lincelé, a specialist of fine lavender, inaugurated the first, and only, Lavender Museum in the Luberon range, in Coustellet. With this new museum, George Lincelé sought to preserve the Art of True Lavender in Provence. A prestigious setting, a vast Provençal home made of stone, with beautiful Mediterranean garden with lavandin and olive trees. This Museum is recognised as a veritable conservatory of lavender from Provence, with its 346 collection items. The most beautiful collections of stills, from the 16th century to the present day, to make essential oil of lavender, and many historical and heritage objects related to lavender. All this accompanies you to enjoy an experience in the world of lavender, to protect and valorise the outstanding local expertise in lavender from Provence.

Growers and Distillers Savoir-faire

This botanical icon is the symbol, the pride and the fame of Provence and it has been that way since the 1800s. True lavlender is one of the rarest and most precious flowers in the world. Today, the Lavender Museum has become a veritable institution commited to the preservation of lavender. Visitors discover the very special role fine lavender plays, in haute parfumerie and in aromatherapy. The museum settings and displays, the enthusiasm of the guides, the staff and the Lincelé family, owners of the museum and producers and distillers of lavender since 1890 at their lavender estate, Le Château du Bois, all combine to offer you a marvelous visit discovering this emblematic flower.
